Senator Cathy Young: Local Roads Matter

From Sen. Cathy Young

Local roads matter! Allegany County Superintendent of Public Works Guy James, joined by Town of Bolivar Superintendent of Highways Brad Schiralli; Town of Wirt Highway Superintendent Shawn Dunmire; Town of Genesee Highway Superintendent Ben Reynolds; Town of Alma Highway Superintendent Dan Ford; Town of New Hudson Highway Superintendent Chris Santangelo; Town of Granger Highway Superintendent Kevin Slack; Town of Grove Highway Superintendent Jesse Griffith; Town of Andover Highway Superintendent James Frungillo; Town of Angelica Highway Superintendent Kevin Demick; Suit-Kote’s Paul Miller; The Dolomite Group’s Don Kernan; Chemung Supply’s Michael Lublin; and retired Superintendent David Roeske were part of a coalition of highway superintendents from across the state who visited the Capitol to highlight the importance of funding for local roads. The Senate has long championed the CHIPS program, and last year we provided strong support for a local influence for the PAVE NY and BRIDGE NY funds. This year we will be fighting to make sure these funds continue to go to our local highway departments, who cover 87 percent of the road mileage in our state.
