Dansville: Fire prompts evacuation of McDonald's restaurant

The McDonald's restaurant at 53 Maple Street in Dansville was evacuated during the 8 a.m. hour today after a fire erupted in a fryer. The situation quickly escalated to a two-alarm fire. Upon arrival, the first crews reported "smoke showing" with "visible fire." Dansville fire immediately requested assistance at the scene from Sparta, Wayland and Perkinsville with Canaseraga crews called to fill in at the Dansville station. The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes and firefighters began looking for any extension of the blaze. The Health Department was requested to the scene. The extent of damage is unclear.
