Mexican restaurant opens in Wellsville

At the new Las Brassa Grill Mexican Restaurant, Wellsville’s newest and only Mexican restaurant, from left, Paulino Andres Vasquez, owner Elioenai Fuentes, Jessica Quijano and Ines Fuentes are ready to serve you.
WELLSVILLE – The town’s first Mexican restaurant. Las Brasas Grill Mexican Restaurant located on the Andover Road just across from Ljungstrom-ARVOS opened Saturday and has been busy ever since. Owner Elioenai Fuentes says that like other restaurants during the Coronavirus shut-down, Las Brasas is open daily for take-out only from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Call 585-296-3810 to order.
Fuentes says he likes Wellsville and was surprised that there was no Mexican restaurant here, explaining that three years ago he tried to bring the business here but couldn’t find an appropriate venue. Earlier this year, he was contacted by relator Vickie Middaugh that a site was opening up and he jumped at it. The “family” business also has facilities in Springville, near Jamestown and in East Aurora.
Starting as a dish washer in a Mexican restaurant over 20 years ago, Fuentes learned the business. He has lived in the United States for 34 years, mostly in North Carolina.
While there is no menu available online (people have to go to the restaurant and pick one up) Las Brasas offers a wide variety of authentic Mexican dishes. The menu includes salads, appetizers, a lunch and dinner menu and a menu for kids. You can also order a la carta. With most dishes you get your choice of beef, pork or chicken. They also offer seafood, steak, veggie plates and burgers, chicken fingers and corn dogs that you can get with or without fries.  Of course, they offer fajitas, tacos, quesadillas, burritos and enchiladas served up with or without rice and beans.
At this time, it takes anywhere from 10 minutes to 1 hour to get your food. Business is most brisk around 5 and 6 p.m.
