The session will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Genesis
Bible Church, 4193 State Route 19 South, Belmont (Scio), to include live
music. Government, business and
community leaders, as well as the general public, are encouraged to attend,
according to Wellsville businessman Michael Raptis who is coordinating prayer
participation from the business community.
Pastors of the Wellsville Area Ministerial Association,
which is co-hosting the activity, say they feel the loss of jobs in the
Wellsville area may be God trying to get people's attention and to seriously
seek Him.
“God is good; we
believe he wants to bless his people and we know that he answers prayer. Area
pastors believe this is the time for churches to come together from across
Allegany County and pray specifically for his favor and economic blessings.”
according to Gene Miller, pastor of Yorks Corners Mennonite Church and
vice-president of the Wellsville pastors group.
Many Wellsville area churches have been and will be
discussing this sentiment in sermons and by other means during the month of
January as they encourage their congregants to come together to pray on January
26.
The gathering is the first of several Sunday prayer sessions
scheduled over the next several months in regard to issues deemed of importance
to Allegany County residents.
On February 16, Mission Genesee Valley will combine with the
Wellsville Area Ministerial Association's annual praise and worship gathering,
to be held at the same times at Riverside Assembly of God Church, 3218
Riverside Drive (State Route 19 North), Wellsville.
Suicide will be the prayer topic for March 22, and the
county's drug issue on April 26, both at sites to be determined.
