ALFRED, NY - It’s Autumn in Alfred and there are only five
markets left until the end of the season! This week, on Sunday 10/6/19, the
Alfred Farmers Market will be the place to be for excellent local food, music,
art, and culture. The musician of the week is Todd Gardener who will be
performing from 11a.m. to 3 p.m. Gardener has a YouTube page named ‘Toddly Ma
Boy’ where you can listen to him play guitar ballads. Individuals of all ages
and abilities can listen to the sounds of Todd Gardener while enjoying a
hands-on activity at the Family Activities Tent. This week, the Family
Activities tent will feature a DIY acorn necklace where you can make your own
acorn capped jewelry. A handcrafted mug made by Alfred University’s Clay
Collective ceramic club will be raffled off as a fundraiser for the market.
Don’t miss out on this one of a kind item!

The Alfred Farmers Market wouldn’t exist if not for the
dedicated farmers and artisans that regularly attend. The highlighted vendor of
this week is Bonnie’s Honey Bees and their featured honey recipe is Slow Cooker
Honey Garlic Chicken and Veggies. You can find local honey for this recipe at
their market booth. Bonnie’s Honey Bees was founded in Spring of 2019 by Bonnie
Cobado, who partners with the Doan Family for production. The Doan Family Farm
have been involved in the honey industry for over 60 years and are largely
involved in pollination in New York, Florida, and California. On average, they
raise and care for 1,000 honey bee hives which results in an average of 55,000
gallons of honey and 1,000 pounds of beeswax. Be sure to check out their wide
variety of honey products at the market!
The Alfred Farmer’s Market is located at the Alfred Village
Bandstand on the corner of Main Street and Saxon Drive. Market days are every Sunday
from 11a.m.-3p.m. from June 16 to October 27th. SNAP/EBT, WIC checks and FMNP
(Farmers Market Nutrition Program) and senior checks are accepted. Meet your
friends, neighbors and farmers every Sunday and enjoy the bounty of the season.
