ALFRED, NY - Alas, the growing season has come to a close. The Alfred Farmers Market is hosting their Harvest Festival to mark the end of another great year. This week, on 10/21/19, will be the last Sunday of the Alfred Farmers Market’s 2019 season. As always, the 11-3pm market will be the place to be for excellent local food, music, art, and culture. Be sure to stock up on meat, vegetables, maple syrup, honey and so unique items you can find at the Alfred Market to hold you through the winter. It’s getting close to the holiday season, and there are a variety of artisan vendors to purchase a hand-crafted one of a kind gift for your loved ones. Items like dichroic glass jewelry, soap, incense, chainmail jewelry, and handmade pottery will be on view at the market this Sunday. Be sure to get the contact information of your favorite vendors if you want to continue purchasing local items when the market is not in session.
The Harvest Day will also include trick or treating, with the vendors giving out candy at their booths. Shoppers are encouraged to come in costume, and the winner of the costume contest will be announced at 12:30pm! The Family Activities tent will feature fall harvest games for individuals of all ages to enjoy while at the market. Mascho Homestead Farm is sponsoring their third year of pumpkin decorating. There will be pumpkins, paints, and other craft items available for free to participants to make their own creation. A handcrafted mug made by a local artist will be raffled off at the Market Manager booth as a fundraiser for the market. Don’t miss out on this one of a kind item!
The Alfred Farmer’s Market is located at the Alfred Village Bandstand on the corner of Main and Saxon Drive. Market days are every Sunday from 11am-3pm from June 16 to October 27th.
