Allegany County to honor Ted Crowell, Coroner for 41 years

The Allegany County Legislature, along with state and federal officials will honor Allegany County Coroner Ted Crowell on Monday. Crowell was first elected to office in 1979 and decided earlier this year, that 2019 would be his last. In addition to county lawmakers and department heads, representatives from the state Senate will attend as well as a member from Congressman Tom Reed's office.
The ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. October 7th in the legislative chambers.
Based in the Wellsville area, Ted has routinely been one of the busiest coroners in Allegany County. In 2018, there were 109 coroner cases; Crowell handled 88 of them. Autopsies were required in 37 cases, including one homicide. Crowell is a graduate of Rushford high school and Simmons Institute of funeral service. He served honorably with the U.S. Army in the Korean War.  Ted has served the Wellsville area as a funeral director since 1962.
