Max C. Greeley, Jr “beloved
father, grandfather, and friend”
ROULETTE, Pa.---Max C. “Grumpy” Greeley, Jr., 88, a longtime
resident of Roulette, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019, in UPMC Cole,
Coudersport, after a short illness.
Born on Thursday, April 9, 1931 in Austin, he was a son of
Max C. Sr. and Blanche Purdy Greeley. On
February 14, 1954, he married Marian Treat, who passed away on January 16,
1997.
Max was a graduate of Austin School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in
Germany during the Korean War. He was
employed as an electrician working for many companies throughout the years.
Max was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church in
Roulette, a former member and past master of Liberty Lodge # 505 F. & A.M.
in Port Allegany, and a member of VFW Post 6391 in Port Allegany.
He enjoyed playing cards, cooking, and gardening. Max also enjoyed the camaraderie of his
fellow veterans and his granddaughter, Hannah Greeley, at the VFW.
Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Max C. III (Susan)
Greeley of Roulette and Michael L. (Jennifer) Greeley of Assumption, Illinois;
a daughter, Kellee Weimer of Assumption, Illinois; many grandchildren,
including: Isaac (Laura) Greeley, Adam (Noelle) Greeley, Hannah Greeley, Lisa
(Bobby) Nay, Ryan (Erika) Trimm, Allison (Nick) Rissler, Steven Greeley, and
Matthew (Nikki) Greeley; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Barton Greeley
of Austin; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Max was predeceased by
two brothers, Rex Greeley and Wayne Greeley; and a loving companion, Dorothy
Smith.
A social gathering will be held at 11am on Sunday, June 2,
2019, at Riverside United Methodist Church, 30 River Street, Roulette.
A celebration of Max’s life will be held at the VFW Post
6391 in Port Allegany at a date and time to be announced.
Burial will be in Card Creek Cemetery, Roulette.

United Methodist Church, 30 River Street, Roulette, PA 16746.
Max’s family has entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury,
funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
