Livingston County Deputies make felony rape arrest

MOUNT MORRIS: Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of a Reading, PA resident on felony rape charges after an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation began on January 8, 2018 when it was alleged and reported to Sheriff’s Investigators that Eriberto Cardenas Valentin, who was 18 years old at the time, had sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old female. It is alleged that the incident occurred in November of 2017 at a residence in the Town of Mount Morris.

During the investigation, Sheriff’s Investigators discovered that Cardenas Valentin had fled the area and was possibly in Pennsylvania. Arrest warrants were obtained for charges of rape in the 2nd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

On May 15, 2019 members of the US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force located Cardenas Valentin at a residence in Reading PA. Cardenas Valentin was arrested as a Fugitive from Justice and held at the Berks County Prison. On May 28, 2019 Cardenas Valentin was extradited back to Livingston County to answer to the Rape and Child Endangerment charges.

Cardenas Valentin was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony level charge. It was recommended that Cardenas Valentin be held on $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 bond.

Cardenas Valentin was later arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town of North Dansville Justice David Werth. The Judge did remand Cardenas Valentin to the custody of the Sheriff on the recommended bail of $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 bond. The investigation was handled by Investigator Dan Rittenhouse of the Criminal Investigations Division.
