Wellsville: Fire department balloon rally chicken BBQ met with questions

The Wellsville Village Board Monday night gave provisional approval to a fire department chicken BBQ planned for Balloon Rally weekend. The event, planned for the Saturday of the festive event next month was met with some questions. The Wellsville Fire Company and Dyke Street Engine Company had sought village approval to hold the dinner at the Main Street station on July 20th. However, Mayor Randy Shayler and some board members were concerned that the BBQ "may infringe" on other food vendors who had coordinated with the Chamber of Commerce. After a several minute discussion, the board voted 5-0 to allow the fire companies to hold the event...as long as there was "no conflict" with other vendors.
