BELMONT - Elizabeth A. “Betty” Winn, age 70, of South Street
passed away on Thursday June 13 at her son's home in Freedom. She was born on
April 6, 1949 in Buffalo to Francis and Marcella McAllister Conway JR. On May
27, 2000 she married William Winn who predeceased her on September 5, 2005.
Betty was a former resident of Buffalo who move to the
Belmont Area in 1972. She had attended the Blessed Trinity School in Buffalo
and graduated from Alfred State College with an Associate’s Degree in Business.
She held many jobs including working at the American Hotel, the Belmont Hotel,
the Belmont American Legion, Harris Supply and she retired from Alfred State
College as a dispatcher. Betty was proud of her 39-year membership in the
American Legion Unit 808 Auxiliary of Belmont. She was an active member who
served in many capacities for her Unit holding several offices including
President. Betty was a member of the Amity rescue Squad from 1978 until 1988,
enjoyed playing euchre and played softball for the Belmont Hotel Team that won
their league 10 years in a row.
Survivors include: her parents, Francis and Marcella Conway
Jr. of Batavia; 2 sons, Raymond M.[Angel] Feness of Freedom and Scott C.[Stacy
Hale] Feness of Belmont; 4 step daughters, Kristy Apgar, Kathy Winn, Michele
Golden and Kelley Winn; her brothers, James Conway, Patrick Conway and John
Conway; her sisters, Eileen [Robert] Kotarski, Leigh MacLeod,Maryann [Paul]
Kogut and Carol [Raymond] Caton; 4 grandchildren, Joshua S. Feness, Austin M.
Feness, Nicholas Feness and Alexander Feness; several step grandchildren;
several nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her husbands, Craig Feness and
William Winn and her brother Francis Conway.
Friends are invited to attend a grave side service on
Saturday, June 22, 2019, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Cemetery of Belmont with Deacon
Frank Pasquale presiding. A luncheon will follow the service at the Belmont
American Legion Post 808. In lieu of flowers memorials in her name may be given
to the American Legion Unit 808 Auxiliary of Belmont. To leave online condolences
