After a thirty-four year run, the Town of Clarksville Clerk/Tax Collector is retiring at the end of the year. 80-year-old Janice Dennis has nothing but good memories of the job. "No one ever ran against me and I don't know why," she chuckled as she spoke with Wellsville Regional News this afternoon.
Now, Clarksville voters have a decision to make. There will be a special election for town residents tomorrow. They are being asked to change the job from elected to appointed. Polls will be open Tuesday from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. The special election has piqued interest. Dennis said she has already received 8 of the 13 absentee ballots! There are 557 registered voters.
