Three dead, six injured in brutal Wyoming County crash

Tragedy struck a family from New Jersey when the SUV they were in was hit by an alleged drunk driver in Wyoming County. The crash happened at 6:39 a.m. on Route 20A. The family was headed to Niagara Falls when a pickup truck failed to stop at a stop sign and slammed into the SUV. Two adult women were thrown from the SUV and died at the scene. A four-year-old child died an hour later at Wyoming County Community Hospital. According to thedailynewsonline.com, the SUV also carried an adult man, who was treated at WCCH and released; a woman who was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center; a 14-year-old who was taken to WCCH and later transferred to Oishei Children’s Hospital in Buffalo; and two other 4-year-olds who were taken to Oishei.
The driver of the pickup truck, identified at 20-year-old Richard Sawicki of Lackawanna, was taken to Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo where he was treated and released. The Wyoming County Sheriff said he was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, DWI and reckless driving. Bail was set at $100,000.
