Assistant U.S. Attorney Melissa M. Marangola, who handled
the case, stated that between June 2017 and July 31, 2018, the defendant
contacted an undercover New York State Police Investigator posing as a
13-year-old minor female using an online social networking application. Girven
and the agent engaged in conversations, some of which were sexual in nature.
During this time period, the defendant received child pornography.
On July 31, 2018, the defendant traveled to Horseheads, NY
to meet who he believed was the 13-year-old minor female. The sentencing is the
result of an investigation by the New York State Police, under the direction of
Major Eric Laughton, and Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction
of Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly.
