Retired Judge says Sheriff Whitney's "dedication to our community is eclipsed by no one"

To the citizens of Allegany County,

Working as Public Defender, District Attorney and Allegany County Court Judge, I have known and worked with Sheriff Rick Whitney for over 35 years. I have seen Sheriff Whitney work tirelessly in our community as Chief of Police in Bolivar and even more so as Allegany County Sheriff. He is a respected member of the law enforcement community and works to ensure public safety by strengthening relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Sheriff Whitney also works and partners with other local agencies to strengthen our community and ensure that Allegany County's future is a bright one.
In my many years of working with the law enforcement community in Allegany County, there are few more dedicated to this profession than Sheriff Rick Whitney. His character and presence is what Allegany County needs as it's top law enforcement executive. Character matters and the people one surrounds themselves with also matter. Sheriff Rick Whitney not only speaks to what is right but acts that way as well. He has been an active member in our community and will continue to be a positive influence in our county moving forward. Rick takes on responsibility when he need not and expects that people in his orbit do so as well. He does this by leading by example and employing his more than four decades of civil and community service in Allegany County.
Sheriff Whitney has achieved many accomplishments in the past 43 years, including successful completion of the FBI National Academy, being awarded the Medal of Honor by the New York State Association of Chiefs of Police and is currently Sergeant at Arms for the New York State Sheriffs Association. He has received numerous local awards and recognitions for his continued community service from organizations like SCOPE and Lions Clubs International. As Sheriff, he has maintained the jail accreditation, facilitated the expansion and updating of the 911 facility and encouraged command staff to expand their certifications. He has maintained federal contracts that generate just over two million dollars annually, and has delivered to the citizens of Allegany County, an office that over performs while it is continually under budget, a budget that is set by the county legislature.
Sheriff Whitney has a dedication to law enforcement and to this community like none other. If experience matters, then his dedication to our community is eclipsed by no one. I am happy to sign my name to this endorsement for Sheriff Rick Whitney. I am voting for Sheriff Whitney and I ask that you do also.
