Allegany County Land Bank and the Town of Rushford Partner to Remove Blight

The Town of Rushford, in collaboration with the Allegany County Land Bank, has demolished a home on Main Street in Rushford. The property had extensive fire damage and was abandoned by its owner.  When the property was seized by Allegany County in tax foreclosure proceedings, the town decided to purchase the property.
The Allegany County Land Bank partnered with the Town of Rushford to share the cost of demolition and create a public space where the property once stood. Some of the ideas for the repurposing of the public space include a playground, benches, and picnic tables.
The Allegany County Land Bank is dedicated to the removal of blight in our community and hopes to continue to work with municipalities to address vacant, abandoned, and distressed properties around Allegany County.
