Wellsville: Renovations begin next week at Lagoon Recreation Area

Renovations will begin next week at the Lagoon Recreation Area, adjacent to Island Park in Wellsville. Town Highway Superintendent Dean Arnold briefed the town board Wednesday night. Arnold said crews will be replacing the existing bathrooms and two new dugouts will be constructs at Lagoon #3. In addition, a new storage shed will be constructed. The town currently has $92,000 in reserves. Funding for the work will come from that account. Other highlights from the meeting:
  • Approved an external audit for federally funded projects. Supervisor Shad Alsworth said as CEO of the town, the audit "is a blessing." He added, " I do have concerns about the finances."
  • Denied, 3-2, in approving an appointment for an ACCORD Corp. Board.
  • Applauded Danielle Osgood on passing her Civil Service Clerk test
  • Approved purchasing a new computer for the deputy clerk. $1,800 was approved and if enough money remains, a new computer would also be purchased for the town clerk.
  • Entered into an executive session to discuss a personnel issue.
