Belmont man takes deal in felony case, receives jail sentence, not prison

A Belmont man has accepted a plea deal after first being charged with felony 2nd degree assault. In a press release from the Allegany County District Attorney's Office, prosecutor's said John F. Conklin, 49, pleaded guilty today in Integrated Domestic Violence Court to 3rd degree assault, a misdemeanor. Judge Thomas Brown sentenced Conklin to one year in the Allegany County Jail. A three year order of protection was also issued. Conklin was accused of causing a facial fracture to the victim.
