New York State Troopers from the Bath barracks, in
conjunction with the Steuben County Child and Family Protective Services unit,
announce the arrest of a Lindley man stemming from an investigation into a
report of suspicious injuries on a two year-old child. Jacoby M. Sawyer, age 20, of Lindley, New
York, was arrested on July 28th and charged with Assault in the Second Degree
(a class “D” felony) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (a class “A”
misdemeanor). According to State Police
Investigator Brian Mayhew, Troopers allege that, on July 19th, 2017, while at a
residence in the Town of Cameron, Sawyer was left to supervise two children
while their parents went to a nearby grocery store and that he used his hand to
intentionally choke and cause physical injury to one of the children who was
less than seven years old. Sawyer was
arraigned in the Town of Erwin Court before T/J Beirwiler and released on his
own recognizance with direction to reappear in the Town of Erwin Court on
08/02/17 at 10:00 a.m.
