According to his Facebook page, "Star Trek" actor JG Hertzler has announced he is challenging Republican Congressman Tom Reed in 2018. Hertzler says he disagrees with everything Reed supports, including his support of President Donald Trump.
The actor now lives in Ithaca and says he will be campaigning through all 11 counties of the district in the coming months.
Hertzler portrayed General Martok on “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.” He was elected to the Ulysses Town Board in 2013.
