Houghton, NY – The Allegany County Area Foundation is pleased to announce a $1,000 grant to The Genesee Rapids Baseball Program. Dr. Ralph P. Kerr, General Manager of the Genesee Rapids Baseball Team stated, “This money will be used to support the First Responders Recognition Day to be held on Sunday, July 2nd at 2pm when the Rapids play the Wellsville Nitros. All First Responders and their families will be given free admission, reduced prices on food and a gift of appreciation.”

The Genesee Rapids Baseball Team, a member of the New York Collegiate Baseball League located in Upstate New York, play their home games on the baseball field at Houghton College. This league provides college players the opportunity to develop their skills at a higher level of play, gain experience with wood bats, and be evaluated by Major League Baseball scouts. Their season will begin in early June and will run through early August.
Grants such as this one are made possible through the generous gifts from Allegany County residents.
