Angelica/Arcade - Verna W. McCarthy, 97, formerly of South Street, currently residing at the Arcade Manor, passed away Thursday (April 13, 2017).
Born in Punxsutawney, PA, October 3, 1919, the daughter of Luther V. and Amelia (Dangoff) Weiss, she had resided in Angelica since 1962. Verna was a graduate of Genesee High School. She was a member of the Angelica United Methodist Church and a past member of the Angelica Order of the Eastern Star, the Angelica American Legion Auxiliary and the 4 C Senior Citizens Group.
She was predeceased by her parents; Luther and Amelia Weiss, her brother; David Weiss, 2 half-brothers; Clifford and Melvin Weiss and her husband; Forrest.
She is survived by her 3 daughters; Yvonne (Fred) Deitz of Nunda, Debrah (Thomas) Scott of East Concord and Kyle (Steven) Cole of Alaska, a son; Roger (Gayle) McCarthy of Bealsville Ohio, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

The family will be present on Saturday (April 15, 2017) from 1-4 p.m. at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Ave., Angelica. Funeral services will be held immediately following calling hours at 4p.m.
