Allegany County Clerk looks to better serve the public

This is from the draft minutes of the Personnel Committee held Feb. 2, 2017
County Clerk Rob Christman requested permission to fill one Special Deputy (non-union, Grade 7, Step: 0) position. This position will be needed no more than 90 days per year. This position will be responsible for facilitating the complexities of the very complicated indexing and mapping program project including taking thousands of maps/surveys/highway appropriations among other legal documents and generating a database that can be used by the general public, abstractors, surveyors, and local government officials. The annual cost of this position is $14,981.40, and there will not be any benefit expenses associated with this position. This position will be funded 100 percent with County funds. Mr. Christman stated this position will have no legacy costs as the employee(s) will be part-time. Mr. Christman went on to say this position will allow them to create a better system that will be tremendously better than what is currently in place. Committee Chairman O’Grady asked where in the budget the money will come from. Mr. Christman stated there will be no increase to what he has asked for his 2017 Budget, and he is certain he will have enough in his .1 accounts to cover it. A motion was made by Legislator Fanton, seconded by Legislator Decker, and carried to create and fill the Special Deputy Position up to $5,000 for the 2017 Budget year. Refer to Ways and Means.
