Alfred drug bust ends with probation sentence

A Hornell man who tried to sell cocaine in Alfred nearly two years ago will avoid prison time. In Allegany County court Thursday, Roberto A. Arroyo, 27, of River Street was sentenced by Judge Terry Parker to five years probation. District Attorney Keith Slep said in a press statement that Arroyo was originally charged with two counts each of felony possession and sale of a controlled substance. Arroyo later pleaded guilty in a deal to attempted sale of drugs. In addition to probation, he was also ordered to pay a DNA fee and cough up $180 in restitution.
