Music covered by Casual Reply includes folk, country, and light, classic rock. With old songs as well as contemporary. The two enjoy playing songs that showcase Michelle's voice, but that also lend themselves to having a single guitar backup.
Michelle's experience as a singer include a number of high school musical and local theater productions. John began playing guitar as a teen, and his primary influences were Johnny Cash and John Denver.
John Denver has had the greatest influence on both John and Michelle. It was a very happy coincidence when they made the decision to perform together, they discovered the both already knew and loved most of his music.
