Dorothy B. SHERWOOD, 94, of Wellsville, NY, died Sunday,
August 9, 2020 in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.
Born January 10, 1926, in Hallsport, she was the daughter of
Will Burdett and Nina R. Frazier Butler.
On August 5, 1942, in Wellsville, she married Stanley W. Sherwood, who
predeceased her on February 3, 1981. A
graduate of Wellsville Central School, she was employed as a secretary by the
Salvation Army in Wellsville for 16 years and as a cashier in the family
business, S&B Sales and Service in Andover, for many years. Dorothy was a member of the Salvation Army in
Wellsville, the Ladies Home League, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the VFW
Auxiliary.
Surviving are: two
sons, Robert E. (Ann) Sherwood of Andover and Dale S. (Nancy) Sherwood of
Victor; four grandchildren, Todd (Teresa
James) Sherwood, Jami (James Manion) Sherwood, Jeffrey (Kate) Sherwood, and
Scott (Jennifer) Sherwood; four
great-grandchildren; three
great-great-grandchildren;
brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Cassie Sherwood of
Crestview, FL; nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was
predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Buchholz and Anna Sandoval; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Louis
and Esther Sherwood.
Cremation was at Olney-Foust Crematory. At her request, there will be no
services. Private burial will be in
Stannards Cemetery. Memorials may be
made to the Salvation Army in Wellsville.
