Allegany County accepts $251,000 grant for increased COVID-19 case and contact investigations
During its Monday afternoon meeting, the Allegany County Legislature accepted a federal grant in the amount of $251,934 earmarked for the county Health Department for increased capacity to conduct COVID-19 case and contact investigations. The majority of this funding is expected to support new personnel to strengthen case investigations.
Some funding
may be allocated to travel, computers and other miscellaneous expenses in support of the new staff activities.
The Board also -
- Authorized a $4,000 transfer within the Probation Department for the purchase of up to five body armor vests for Probation Officers.
- Accepted a $4,000 donation from the Allegany County Area Foundation for use by the County Office for the Aging. The donation will help support increased volume and cost for Home Delivered meals due to COVID-19.
- Accepted a federal grant of $186,279 for the Department of Social Services.
