Wellsville: Village Board orders garage on N Broad Street to be torn down; house on Martin under review

Code Officer Jo Fenske explains the
case to the village board
The Wellsville Village Board Monday Night declared a garage at 23 North Broad Street to be an unsafe structure and ordered it torn down. The building is owned by David and Aimee Cummins. Code Enforcement Officer Jo Fenske said she had been monitoring the building for three years.

Mr. Cummins was at the meeting and agreed to comply. Once served, he has 30 days to bring the building down. Meanwhile, the village board issued a stay for a home at 47-49 Martin Street. The house was severely damaged in a fire October 24, 2018. A representative for the property owner, who is living in Israel, said he wants to comply, but has had difficulty securing quotes for either repair or demolition. The village noted the home has been frequently vandalized. After a brief discussion, the village issued a two-week deferment before declaring it an unsafe structure.
