Obituary: Judy A. Plant, 72, Coudersport


Judy A. Plant -“beloved mother, daughter, grandmother, and sister”
COUDERSPORT, Pa.---Judy A. Plant, 72, a lifelong resident of Coudersport and Austin, passed away with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, in UPMC Cole Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Unit, Coudersport, after a long illness.
Born on Monday, January 13, 1947 in Coudersport, she was a daughter of Wayne and Marion Green Walker.  On July 25, 1964 in Austin, she married Jim L. “Chub” Plant, who passed away on July 18, 2010.
Judy was a graduate of Austin High School.  She was employed for a period of time at Emporium Specialties in Austin and for several years was employed as a patient activities aide at Sweden Valley Manor in Coudersport.  She lastly worked for Potter County Homemakers.
Judy was a member of the Austin United Methodist Church and was a member of the Austin Volunteer Fire Department where she volunteered with the ambulance.  Her greatest love was her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her mother of Coudersport; two daughters, Lisa A. (Joe) Karpinski of Coudersport and Amy S. (Wayne) Shreve of Erie; five grandchildren, Kari L. (Mike) Kurtz, Kaitlyn M. (Skyler) Blumer, Geoffrey R. Shreve, Kelsey N. Karpinski, and Jennifer L. Shreve; three great-grandchildren, Brayden J. Kurtz and twins, Sadie J. Kurtz and Kinsley A. Kurtz; two brothers, Terry Walker of Richfield, Minnesota and Wayne “Tink” (Pauline) Walker of Coudersport; a sister, Brenda (Gerry) Weaver of Fairfax, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Judy was predeceased by her father and husband.
Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 am on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the Coudersport Alliance Church, 1 Alliance Avenue, Coudersport, where funeral services will follow at 11 am with Pastor Kevin Cornish and Judy’s nephew, Pastor Mike Walker, officiating.  Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Austin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Judy’s name to Cole Foundation, 1001 East Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915 earmarked for Cole Manor Patient Activities.
Judy’s family has entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
