Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeremy Murray, who is
handling the case, stated according to the indictment, after receiving a tip of
suspected child pornography from the National Center for Missing and Exploited
Children, Homeland Security Investigations traced the suspected child
pornography to the defendant, a New York State Corrections Officer.
On May 9, 2019, a federal search warrant was executed at
Chojnacki’s Louis Street residence. Investigators seized various computers, electronic
devices, and electronic media. After a preliminary review, 8,500 images and 200
videos of suspected child pornography have been identified.
The defendant made an initial appearance this morning before
U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah J. McCarthy and will be released on home
detention.
The indictment is the result of an investigation by Homeland
Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin
Kelly.
