PennDOT Announces McKean County Highway Improvements

Bradford, PA –  The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that work to improve more than 28 miles of roadway in McKean County will begin this week. Overall work includes milling and paving, guiderail installation, pavement marking and miscellaneous improvements on sections of six routes in McKean County.

On Thursday, May 22, traffic will be limited to a single lane while crews begin joint repair and resurfacing on Route 219 between Westline and Lafayette. Traffic control will be provided by flaggers in the roadway. Motorists are urged to exercise caution, be on the lookout for slow-moving or stopped vehicles, and obey the posted speed limit when passing through the work zone.

Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. is the contractor for this $9.5 million project, which is expected to finish by mid-October. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
Other roads included on this project are as follows:

• Route 346 between the Warren/McKean county line and the Corydon/Bradford township line.
• Route 46 between Lorana Avenue and Chelsea Lane
• Route 346 between Bradford and Eldred
• Route 1009 near Wingard Hollow Run
• Route 2001 between North Street and Route 146
