Josephine A. Layfield: Loving Mother, Grandmother
Josephine A. Layfield, 87, formerly of 12 Gateway Drive, Cuba passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Strong Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born on November 6, 1931, in Bradford, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of Vincent J. and Mary Angela Marina DiDonato. On August 26, 1950, in St. Bernard Church, Bradford, she married Raymond D. Layfield who preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of St. Bernard’s High School in Bradford Pennsylvania. She had been employed for many years as a cafeteria worker for the Cuba Rushford Central School prior to her retirement.
Josephine was a member of Our Lady of Angels Church and the Cuba Senior Citizens. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Scott (Anita) Layfield of Lima, NY and Michael (Nadene) Layfield of Long Valley, NJ; one daughter Cynthia (Theordore) Cramer of Mechanicsburg, PA; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by a brother Anthony DiDonato. Friends may call at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., 9 Bull Street, Cuba, on Friday, May 24, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until noon and then A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Angels Church, 50 South Street, Cuba. Fr. Dennis J.J. Mancuso, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Cuba. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.rinkerfuneralhome.com.
