YORK/GENESEO: Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty
and Geneseo Village Police Chief Eric G. Osganian report the arrest of a
Geneseo man on felony charges after a joint investigation between the
Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the Village of Geneseo Police Department,
and the Child Protective Services Unit of the Livingston County Department of
Social Services.
On March 4th, 2019 members of the Sheriff’s Office, Geneseo
Police Department and Livingston County CPS responded to Strong Memorial
Hospital to investigate injuries to a three (3) month old child.
The initial investigation alleges that 25 year old Brandon
M. Augsbury caused substantial bruising to the three month old child while in
his care at a residence in the Village of Geneseo.
During the examination of the child, it was also found that
the child had injuries consisting of broken ribs that were now in the healing
stages. It is further alleged that Augsbury caused those injuries to the child
while in his care at a residence in the Town of York.
Sheriff’s Investigators arrested and charged Augsbury with
felony Assault in the 2nd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Augsbury was turned over to Central Booking Deputies at the
Livingston County Jail for processing and pre-arraignment detention. The
District Attorney’s Office was contacted in regards to bail due to the felony
level charge and provided a bail recommendation of $10,000 cash or $20,000
bond.
Augsbury was later arraigned at the Livingston County
Centralized Arraignment Part (LC-CAP) at the Livingston County Jail before Town
of Groveland Justice Jeanean Love. The Judge did remand Augsbury to the custody
of the Sheriff on the recommended bail of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
In addition, the Geneseo Police Department has charged
Augsbury with Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Harassment in the 2nd
Degree.
Child Protective Services is continuing with their
investigation.
Handling the investigation for the Sheriff’s Office were
Sheriff’s Investigator Brad Schneider of the Criminal Investigations Division
and Deputy Matthew Moran of the Forensic Identification Unit. Officer Dan
Piedmonte handled the investigation for the Geneseo Police Department.
