New York State may ban single-use plastic bags

It’s happening in a number of southern communities…and the movement to ban single use plastic bags may soon reach New York State. Legislators are currently debating the issue as part of state budget negotiations. The move would impact nearly every shopper in New York. Carl Heastie is the Assembly speaker and says he thinks the conference is "clearly ready to ban plastic bags." Budget negotiations are happening at a furious pace in Albany. The spending plan needs to be approved by the end of Sunday.
