Cuba PD: Sergeant Howe honored

On November 11th, 2018, while on a normal day shift, Sergeant Howe responded to an emergency call in which a civilian had been underneath his SUV working on the vehicle and the vehicle jack failed causing the SUV to fall onto the victim. The Cuba Fire Department attempted to use equipment to raise the vehicle but their equipment malfunctioned leaving the vehicle still on top of the victim. Sergeant Howe acted quickly and gathered several members of the Cuba Fire Department, ...Cuba Ambulance Service and the New York State Police and instructed them to lift the vehicle. Upon utilizing team work they were able to remove the victim and the victim was flown to the hospital where the victim was treated and eventually released. Because of Sergeant Howe’s quick action and decision making and other first responders assistance, this individual is alive today. Recently, the Cuba Police Department awarded Sergeant Howe with the Life Saving Medal and commendation during a private ceremony. It is because of Sergeant Howe’s heroic actions that another person’s life was potentially saved. Sergeant Howe was also awarded a commendation for his role in keeping our roads safe from intoxicated drivers.
