There will be a tomato tasting contest, salsa making and
under the kid's tent, Allecia Brutsman will lead the children in an air dry
clay leaf print craft.
Music will be provided from noon until 3:00 p.m. by the 5
member band, Simply Strings. They play pop and fiddle tunes that range from the
Beatles to Led Zeppelin and from Dave Matthews to Imagine Dragons.
Our weekly raffle item is a beautiful framed and matted
sunflower picture made by Judy Jedinak Cornelius from Scherenschitte &
Quilling. Raffle tickets are $1 each or
$5 for an arm's length. All proceeds go to the Alfred Farmers Market which is a
not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to educate and provide healthy
food to the community.
A wide variety of tomatoes from Heirloom to cherry will be
available as well as other seasonal veggies, meats, berries, baked goods and
other handmade items. We are a grower’s
only market. It is an opportunity to support local and get to know your farmer
and their practices.
If you are a canner looking for good tomatoes to put up for
winter, to make spaghetti sauce, chili sauce or salsa; the Tomato Festival is
the place to be. Alfred University has
provided brand new picnic tables. Grab a bite to eat, listen to the music and do
some shopping while the children play under the kid's tent.
