Cuba police: Domestic calls are "frightening" - Department to honor slain trooper shield number

Badge/shield # 5528 to honor Trooper Nick Clark
From Cuba Police Chief Dustin Burch:
A total of 1,511 law enforcement officers died in the line of duty during the past 10 years, an average of one death every 58 hours or 151 per year. There were 129 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in 2017. The most recent death of New York State Trooper Nicholas Clark hit many agencies here in the Southern Tier hard. During 2017 the Cuba Police Department responded to a total of 76 domestic disputes/situations. These types of calls are often responded to by only one officer and that officer has no idea what is going on inside the home of the dispute. This can be frightening even to a seasoned veteran. An officer can be hurt or killed on any one of these types of calls in an instant. In honor of the New York State Police, Trooper Clark and Trooper Clark’s family, the Cuba Police Department will be displaying temporary tribute decals on our patrol vehicles in memory of Trooper Clark (shown in photo). Hopefully Trooper Clark’s family can find comfort in the overwhelming support of their son. *** Decals were donated by White Imprints of Cuba,NY.
