Bridge work planned on State Route 248 in Greenwood

The New York State Department of Transportation announced today that work will begin July 9, 2018, weather permitting, on State Route 248 in the town of Greenwood.  The bridge on SR 248 over Bennett’s Creek will have a new epoxy overlay installed. Work is anticipated to be complete in August.
One-lane traffic over the bridge will be controlled with temporary signals on SR 248, as well as Norton Hollow Road and Rock Creek Road.
Recently, NYSDOT and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee unveiled a new public service announcement and social media campaign focused on the importance of respecting flagging personnel. This year’s work zone safety campaign, “Flaggers have families too,” is designed to remind motorists that flagging personnel are not attempting to disrupt traffic – they are simply doing their jobs and want to get home safely at the end of each work day.
