Scott Updyke Announces Write-in Campaign for Andover Village Trustee


Andover - Scott Updyke has announced he is running as a write-in candidate for Andover Village Board Trustee. The election to fill two Village Trustee positions will be held on March 20th. Mel Thorpe, Mike Dibble, Bob Joyce, and write-in candidate Scott Updyke are running to fill the seats. “I’ve lived in this community most of my life and I feel that I have a lot to give back,” says Updyke. He added,  “I’d like to see our village improve its communication with residents and make good choices about using our resources.” According to a press release, Updyke is a long-time Andover resident who moved to Andover in 1996 with his parents.  He has owned a home in the village of Andover since 2000, where he is raising his three sons, with his wife Jennifer. Scott has been involved in numerous local groups and events including being the current Rod and Gun Club President. He’s also a certified Hunter Safety instructor. Scott volunteers his time with many local organizations.  He’s a t-ball and football coach for local area teams. Updyke has also volunteered at and helped to organize many fundraisers in Andover, such as the Maple Festival and 4th of July BBQ.  He’s helped raise funds to send kids to camp through the Rod and Gun Club as well as supported local fishing contests and wildlife preservation and management efforts.  After hearing concerns from many Village of Andover residents, Scott Updyke has decided to join the race as a write-in candidate for Village Trustee.  “The Village of Andover has had so many changes this year with Village Crew turnover and proposed policy changes.” Updyke comments, “I feel that we can do better at listening to the people of the Village of Andover and making informed decisions based on the needs and resources of our community.” The Village of Andover Trustees Election will be held March 20th, with polls open from Noon to 9:00 p.m. at the Andover Community Center at 22 East Greenwood Street.  Listed Candidates are Mike Dibble, Bob Joyce, and Melanie Thorpe with the trustee seat going to the two people with the top votes.
