National Grid issues statement on power outages

9:00AM Update: A field force of nearly 1,500 workers made significant progress in hazardous conditions over the last 24 hours to successfully restore power to 84% of the nearly 160,000 customers impacted by the powerful nor’easter. Crews have been working around the clock – through sustained high winds and heavy, wet snow – removing downed trees, tree limbs, and other hazards, so that they could replace poles and rebuild circuits after the storm’s devastation. The treacherous weather conditions and resulting heavy snow on trees continue to cause new power outages in pockets of our region.  Crews remain dedicated to restoring service to the 26k+ customers who remain without power, primarily in the hardest hit areas of the Southern Tier, the Mohawk Valley, and portions of Central and Eastern New York.
