Almond woman faces drug charges in Livingston County

 Press Release:
Avon:  Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports the arrest of an Almond woman following a traffic stop. On December 9, 2017 at approximately 12:10 a.m., Deputy Shawn Whitford stopped a vehicle on Lakeville Road in the Town of Avon for a vehicle and traffic law violation.  During the course of the traffic stop, the Deputy found that a passenger in the vehicle, 38-year-old Amber L. Gray, was allegedly in possession of numerous items of drug paraphernalia, some of which were a digital scale and glassine baggies.
Gray was placed under arrest for two counts of criminal possession of drug paraphernalia.  The deputy allegedly had further reason to believe that Gray may be concealing further items on her person.  Central Booking Deputies at the Livingston County Jail were alerted when Gray was turned over for processing and pre-arraignment detention.
Deputies discovered that Gray was in fact, allegedly, concealing two devices commonly use to smoke narcotics on her person.  This resulted in Gray receiving an additional felony charge for promoting prison contraband in the 1st degree.
The District Attorney's Office recommended bail of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
Gray was later arraigned in the Town of Geneseo Court before Justice Houston who remanded her to the custody of the Sheriff on $500 cash or $1,000 bond.  Assisting Deputy Whitford with the traffic stop was Deputy Brandan Flickner.
