“FINDING YOUR ROOTS!”
A Genealogy WorkshopIt’s not often that one has the opportunity to learn a skill from a master. The Allegany County Historical Society is offering the rare opportunity to learn some of the basics of genealogical research from Dr. William Paquette. Dr. Paquette is a professor of history at Tidewater Community College. He has been teaching genealogy workshops for many years, and has served as Governor of the Mayflower Society of Virginia, as well as the Education Chairman of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants.
The workshop is free
of charge and is being offered on Thursday evening, October 26th, from 6 p.m.
to 9 p.m. at the ACHS History Center in Andover, N.Y. Those interested in attending the

At Tidewater, Dr.
Paquette has taught World, Western, Latin American, and
United States history. He has published over 165 articles and eight
books. He serves as a consultant to the U.S. Department of Education, the
United States Institute of Peace, and the National Endowment for the
Humanities, and to major textbook publishers. Dr. Paquette is annually listed
in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Education, Who’s
Who Among America’s Teachers, and the Directory of American Scholars. In
2015, Dr. Paquette was awarded his 14th National Endowment for the Humanities
Grant. This one was “American Slavery: From Constitution to the Civil
War.” Professor Paquette was Associate Editor for the 2015 Journal for
New Directions in the Humanities, University of Illinois and Co-Editor of the
book Images of America: Wellsville, New York published by Arcadia Press.
