I received this email Friday for an event that (apparently) happened Thursday. Press releases typically work best for advance notice when they actually are received, in advance. No worries...Congrats Texas Hot!

Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I– 57th District) will present a New York State Senate resolution to Mike Raptis, owner of legendary Wellsville restaurant Texas Hot, to commemorate the 95
th Anniversary of the popular eatery. The event will take place at 1 p.m. (Thursday) at the restaurant, located at 132 North Main Street in Wellsville. The iconic restaurant is famous for its signature dish – a “Texas Hot” which is a hot dog smothered in a secret recipe meat sauce.  Founded initially by James Rigas, the restaurant’s opening day was November 21, 1921. George Raptis joined the business a few months later, and together, the two hardworking Greek immigrants with an entrepreneurial spirit built the restaurant into a local landmark. One of the most well-known and well-loved eateries in the region, Texas Hot has not only been a favorite with locals for generations, but has served celebrities including Shirley Jones and Donnie Osmond. Today the restaurant is run by the third generation of the Rigas and Raptis families, Mike Raptis and Chris Rigas.
