An overnight fire destroyed a home on John Street in Belmont. Amity EMS 1 was first on the scene and told 911 the building was filly involved in fire. There was an initial concern that the homeowners were still inside, but first responders quickly determined that the structure was empty. Belmont fire and Amity Rescue responded to the scene, as did equipment and crews from Scio, Angelica as well as DC-3. Firefighters were at the scene for several hours overnight. No word yet on the potential cause.
