Theft: Luce court appearance delayed

The Genesee, PA man accused of stealing more than $10,000 from the Independence Emergency Squad (IES) in Whitesville will not appear in court this week as first reported. 32-year-old Scott Luce, a Genesee Township Supervisor and Genesee Ambulance officer stands charged with felony grand larceny for allegedly stealing more than $10,000 from the IES while he was the treasurer. Luce was initially arraigned and released during a court appearance in the Town of Willing court. He was due in the Town of Independence court Wednesday, but Judge Dan Howe told WRN tonight that an adjournment has been requested. Luce is now expected in court June 21st, according to Judge Howe. Luce was first represented by Allegany County Public Defender Barbara Kelley, but Judge Howe said Luce has sought outside counsel. Howe said several things could happen on June 21st...Luce could plead guilty or most likely, the case would be transferred to county court, since the charge is a felony. Judge Howe declined to speculate what he anticipated to occur. Genesee local government and first responders have kept silent about the matter.
