Wellsville Business Park lands first tenant

The former Dresser-Rand/Siemens facility on Coats Street in Wellsville has landed its first tenant, after being named by Allegany County as the new ‘Wellsville Business Park.’ Dresser abandoned Wellsville with a significant loss of employment.  This move is exciting and helps a growing local Wellsville business. Bill Ferguson operates the local division of Matco Tools. He confirmed the news Monday afternoon. The company is a manufacturer and distributor of quality professional automotive equipment, tools and toolboxes. The product line numbers more than 20,000 items, and they guarantee and service the equipment they sell.

Matco began operation in 1946 and, since 1979, they have sold our products directly to professional mechanics, enthusiasts, and those who value quality tools through a network of independent franchised mobile distributors. The franchisees are easily recognized in their white trucks bearing the familiar Matco logo. Today, Matco distributors operate in all 50 states, Canada and Puerto Rico.

The owners of the business park are investors and an attorney in Rochester. The contact is Wellsville native Jason Kulick, who lives in Rochester.

Ferguson said each lease is negotiable. "I took a 2 year lease for warehouse space, he added. He noted that many outfits are interested in the machinery and it would be cheaper to move production here than move some of the machines.

Auction tagging starts this week.

Ferguson is a community-oriented business person. For example, on Christmas Eve, he and his customers donated some $3,000 in coffee to hospitals in Wellsville, Olean and Hornell.
