Warsaw: Man threatens Deputies with knife

Jonathan G. Irish, 42 of Warsaw, was committed to the Wyoming County Jail following an attempted assault at a North Warsaw business.

Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an address on State Route 19 in the Town of Warsaw for the report of a male who had just attempted to assault a subject with a knife at the business.  While units were responding it was reported the suspect was still armed and had just fled the scene in a vehicle.  Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies located the male entering a vehicle at Crosby’s Gas Station on State Route 19 near Saltvale Road, not far from the scene.  Deputies conducted a traffic stop with the suspect vehicle after Irish attempted to drive away.  During the course of attempting to take Irish into custody, Irish presented a knife toward deputies.  Deputies were able to talk Irish into dropping the knife, and Irish was then taken into custody without further incident.  Irish was charged as follows:

Menacing a Police Officer (class D violent felony), Attempted Assault in the Second Degree (class E felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree (three counts), Menacing in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree

Irish was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court where he was committed to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $25,000.00 cash bail, $50,000.00 bond, or $50,000.00 partially secured bond.  Irish was scheduled for further court proceedings in Wyoming County Court on November 5, 2020.
