Jonathan G. Irish, 42 of Warsaw, was committed to the
Wyoming County Jail following an attempted assault at a North Warsaw business.
Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an address on
State Route 19 in the Town of Warsaw for the report of a male who had just
attempted to assault a subject with a knife at the business. While units were responding it was reported
the suspect was still armed and had just fled the scene in a vehicle. Wyoming County Sheriff’s Deputies located the
male entering a vehicle at Crosby’s Gas Station on State Route 19 near Saltvale
Road, not far from the scene. Deputies
conducted a traffic stop with the suspect vehicle after Irish attempted to
drive away. During the course of
attempting to take Irish into custody, Irish presented a knife toward
deputies. Deputies were able to talk
Irish into dropping the knife, and Irish was then taken into custody without
further incident. Irish was charged as
follows:
Menacing a Police
Officer (class D violent felony), Attempted Assault in the Second Degree (class
E felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree (three counts),
Menacing in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree
Irish was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court where he was
committed to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $25,000.00 cash bail,
$50,000.00 bond, or $50,000.00 partially secured bond. Irish was scheduled for further court
proceedings in Wyoming County Court on November 5, 2020.
