Obituary: Carol A. “Spark” Griswold, 73, formerly of Richburg

RICHBURG - Carol A. “Spark” Griswold, 73, a former resident of 202 Evans Ave. passed away on Saturday October 24, 2020 in the Highland Healthcare Center in Wellsville following a lengthy illness. Born on June 12, 1947 in Olean, she was the daughter of G. Donald and Virginia Allen Hawkes. Spark married Warren Griswold on May 31, 1969. Mr. Griswold preceded her in death on April 14, 2004.

She was a graduate of the Richburg Central School class of 1965.

She started work at Weston’s Shoppers City from 1965-1971, she was also a substitute teacher at Richburg Central School, worked part time at Park & Shop Bolivar, and from 1988-1998 served as the Richburg Village Clerk.

Warren and Carol helped the Fire Dept. when they were able, especially cleaning leeks, making pies and working the leek dinner. Carol was a member of the “Girls Club”. Surviving are two Children, Jeff Griswold Cuba, Sherry Griswold Richburg Three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One Brother Jym (Linda) Hawkes Rochester. A Sister-in-Law Sunnie Day Canisteo N.Y. Several Nieces and Nephews.

Preceded in death by a Brother Robert Hawkes in 1998

Friends may call at the Schaffner Funeral Home Inc. Bolivar on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. David Herne of the Heritage AFlame Ministries will officiate. Burial in Wells Cemetery Little Genesee.
