Alfred University COVID-19 Testing Update, 10-28-2020

This week’s pooled saliva testing resulted in one new positive test.  Following are the up-to-date results (includes all testing 9/4 through 10/28) of COVID-19 pooled saliva and walk-in testing of Alfred University students:

  • Total tests administered to date:                                       2,394
  • Total positive test results to date:                                      20 (17 students, 3 employees)
  • Total students currently in isolation (active cases):        3 (1 off campus)
  • Current campus positivity rate:                                          0.5%

As a reminder, a negative result only indicates that the person tested did not have the virus seven days prior to taking the test, and does not indicate anything going forward. So, we all must stay vigilant in terms of protecting ourselves and others.

Please remember that each of us must fulfill our shared responsibilities every day for promoting the health and safety of our campus and surrounding community. Our individual actions will be the greatest determining factor in achieving our collective goal of keeping our campus open throughout the semester.

If you are an Alfred University student who has not yet made the affirmation to keep our campus safe, here is the link to do so, Protect the Lux. The guidelines in Protect the Lux—which apply equally to staff and faculty—include wearing masks or face coverings when required, submitting a daily health screening, practicing social distancing, and engaging in appropriate personal hygiene.

Note: We recommend each student gets a flu shot to reduce the risk of contracting the flu this fall. Students: If you would like to schedule a flu shot, please call the Wellness Center, at 607-871-2400.  The cost is $15, and will be charged to your student account.
