BATH – The Governor announced today that portions of Steuben County have reached the threshold to be placed in the yellow zone under the state’s cluster action initiative. Areas of the county that fall within the yellow zone will be required to follow guidelines:
· Non-essential gatherings are limited to 25 people or less
· Houses of worship can still meet at 50% of their maximum occupancy and must follow all other NYS guidelines
· Restaurants and taverns must limit group or party size to no more than 4 people
· Schools that are open for in-person learning are required to undergo mandatory weekly testing of 20% of students and staff
“We have been very concerned about our rising cases over the last several weeks,” said Public Health Director, Darlene Smith. “Community transmission remains high in Steuben County. We need for all residents to take extra precautions, limit gatherings with those outside their household, and be extremely mindful about activities and mask wearing to slow this spread. We hope community compliance will mean the zone colors and areas included will not increase.”
The following municipalities have at least portions or are wholly included within the yellow zone:
· City of Corning
· Town of Addison
· Town of Campbell
· Town of Caton
· Town of Corning
· Town of Erwin
· Town of Hornby
· Town of Lindley
· Town of Tuscarora
· Village of Addison
· Village of Painted Post
· Village of Riverside
· Village of South Corning
All residents should continue to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills or repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell and contact their healthcare provider for instructions if feeling ill.
